Texas Rangers - Recent Form & Highlights

The Rangers entered the second phase of their rebuilding project as a team that would battle the A's for the worst team in the AL West.

Texas picked up eight more wins than the previous season and finished in fourth place with a 68-94 record. First baseman Nathaniel Lowe led the team with a .302 batting average, while Corey Seager slugged 33 home runs, and Adolis Garcia drove in 101 runs. Lefty Martin Perez was the top pitcher with 12 wins, a 2.89 ERA, and 169 strikeouts.

The Rangers have added starting pitchers Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney, and Jake Odorizzi during the winter and should contend for a wild-card berth next season.

About The Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are an American League (AL) West division team based in Arlington, Texas. The franchise was founded in 1961 as the Washington Senators, an expansion team of the American League. In 1972 they relocated from Washington D.C. to become the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers have enjoyed some success during their history, making it to the World Series twice in 2010 and 2011, although they were defeated both times by the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals respectively. In total, they've won two AL pennants and seven AL West Division titles (most recently in 2016). Some iconic moments include Nolan Ryan throwing two no-hitters with the Rangers (1990 & 1991) and Ivan Rodriguez winning his record 13th consecutive Gold Glove Award in 1999.

They play their home games at Globe Life Field, which opened in 2020 and replaced Globe Life Park as the team's home stadium. The stadium features a modern design with a retractable roof and air conditioning, creating a comfortable environment for fans year-round.

The biggest rivals of the Texas Rangers are their divisional opponents such as the Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, and Oakland Athletics. Historically, the Rangers have had mixed success against these teams but have fared better against the Astros than either of their other two rivals.

Over their history, some of the star players that have been part of the Texas Rangers franchise include Hall-of-Famers Nolan Ryan and Ivan Rodriguez as well as Michael Young, Adrian Beltre, Yu Darvish, Josh Hamilton, and Jurickson Profar among others.
