Boston Celtics - Expectations for 2022-23 Season

Boston will go into this campaign believing they can go all the way and win the Championship this time, after losing out to the Golden State Warriors last year.

The acquisition of Malcolm Brogdan shows that they mean business this season and are looking to add more offense to their game. The Celtics will undoubtedly attract attention this year when it comes to betting on the NBA, and are likely to be amongst the favorites to contend for the title.

The team will most likely make the Playoffs again, and we could see them finish as the first or second seed in the Eastern Conference.

Boston Celtics - Recent Form & Highlights

The Celtics finished the 2021/2022 season as the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 51-31 record. They went to the NBA finals as they beat the Brooklyn Nets, as well as the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat on their way to the finals, where they lost 4-2 to the Golden State Warriors in a six-game thriller.

The last time the Celtics failed to make the playoffs was in 2014. They have been to the Eastern Conference Finals three times since then (in 2017, 2018, and 2020) and made the NBA finals last year.

Following these results, it’s safe to say the only thing on Boston’s mind is to go a little further and win their first NBA Championship since 2008.

About The Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics compete in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, Atlantic Division. Founded in 1946, they are one of a small number of teams never to have changed their name, and were one of the first to play in the league. The Celtics currently play their home games at the TD Garden, named after its sponsor TD Bank, which opened in 1995.

The Celtics are notably one of the most successful teams in NBA history; They are one of the only two teams with 17 NBA Championships, with the other team being the Los Angeles Lakers. They also hold the record for the most wins by any team in the history of the NBA.

As you would imagine, the Celtics have a longtime rivalry with the Lakers as both teams have met a record 12 times in the NBA Finals, including recent finals in 2008 and 2010. The Celtics have won nine of these matches. Last season, the Celtics were aiming to stand in a class of their own as they were gunning for a record 18 NBA championships, but this was not to be as they ended up losing to the Golden State Warriors.

The Celtic’s most dominant period was in the 50s and 60s as they won eight consecutive NBA Championships between 1959 and 1966, with legendary player Bill Russell leading the charge. The history of the Celtics is not short of famous basketballers, with the likes of Larry Bird, Bob Cousy, and Dave Cowens having played for the team. They, alongside Bill Russell, have won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award a record number of ten times.

The Boston Celtics currently have two all-stars on their roster, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and the squad also includes Marcus Smart, who was the Defensive Player of the Year last season.
