Chicago Bulls - Expectations This Season

A lot of eyes will be on the Chicago Bulls for the 2022/23 season to see if last year’s performance was a fluke, or if the team can try to replicate the considerable success it has enjoyed in the past.

The Bulls seem to have all the pieces together with their starting lineup. However, there are still doubts about the squad’s depth.

The Chicago Bulls are outsiders for the Championship, but they will likely get to the playoffs again. In terms of betting on the NBA, the Bulls are one to watch. They are unlikely to be considered strong title contenders this year, but are a team that shouldn’t be written off. This means there might be some good value picks to be found when they face off against favored rivals.

Chicago Bulls - Recent Form & Highlights

The Chicago Bulls finished last season as the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 46-36 record. It was an improvement considering they made the playoffs after missing the previous four seasons.

They had acquired free agent DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, and Nikola Vucevic as part of an effort to rebuild. These players, alongside Zach Lavine, combined pretty well, and they will look to improve further going into the 2022/23 season.

With the 2021/22 results a marked improvement over what has been achieved by the team for the last several years, with the 22-60 record of 2018/19 particularly disappointing, fans will be eager to see the Bulls build on this momentum and reach the playoffs in consecutive years; something they haven’t achieved since 2015.

About The Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls, also known as “The Bulls,” compete in the Eastern Conference of the NBA. Founded in 1966, the team plays its home games at the United Center in Chicago.

The Bulls enjoyed their most tremendous success in the 90s when they won six NBA Championships between 1991 and 1998. The team that achieved this feat is known as one of the NBA’s greatest dynasties, and was led by one of the greatest players of all time, Michael Jordan, playing alongside fellow Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen.

While the Bulls squad of the 90s was packed with talent, much of the team’s success during that period is attributed to Michael Jordan’s greatness, as he won the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award every time they won the Championship. He is also one of two Bulls players who have won the MVP Award in the regular season. The other player is Derrick Rose.

The Bulls are the only team to win multiple championships without losing in any NBA finals. They have been to the NBA finals six times and have won the series on all occasions.

They held the record for most wins during the regular season (72 wins during the 1995/96 season) until the Golden State Warriors won 73 games during the 2015/2016 season.

There is no doubt that the Bulls dominated that period. However, they have failed to replicate this success and have sunk into mediocrity in the years since.

The Bulls share a rivalry with the Detroit Pistons. It began when both teams met four consecutive seasons in the playoffs, with the Pistons winning on all occasions until 1991. Both teams are in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference, which can make for some interesting matchups most years.
